Dear Parents,


The 7th graders have just finished reading The Outsiders. The book was well received, and some students are wanting to read other books written by S.E. Hinton. In place of a test, I am planning on having the students write an essay. The essay will be on the differences between the book and the movie. Therefore, I am planning on showing the movie on Wednesday, 10/22 and Thursday as well. The Outsiders’ movie is rated PG-13 for some violence, teen drinking, and smoking. It was, however, made in 1983. Therefore, the standards for rating movies then were stricter.

If you have any objects to your child watching this film please call or send a note back signed. If you do not feel comfortable having your child watch the movie,I will have an alternative assignment for him/her to do.
